MADISON, WIS.– The No. 54 ranked University of Denver men’s tennis team fell to the No. 67 University of Wisconsin 4-1 on Sunday in Madison, Wis.
"Today's loss needs to burn a little bit for both our players and coaches,” head coach Danny Westerman said. “We have been on a pretty good roll the last couple weeks, and today some weaknesses were exposed. We are excited to back on the practice court and learn from this weekend and continue our growth as a team."
Denver is 6-4 overall following the loss, while Wisconsin improves to 5-3.
In doubles, the tandem of No. 32 ranked Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) and Diogo Rocha (Lisbon, Portugal) posted a win in the No. 1 spot. The duo beat Petr Satral and Jakhongir Jalalov 8-3.
Posting the lone singles win of the day for the Pioneers was Rocha. The freshman defeated Satral 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot. Both Alex Gasson (Alton, U.K.) and Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) were midway through their second sets when play was finished.
