DU Men's Tennis Falls to Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J.-  The No. 61 ranked University of Denver men’s tennis team was defeated 5-2 by No. 50 Princeton on the road Friday.

Denver is 6-6 overall following the loss, while Princeton improves to 9-4.

In doubles, Princeton claimed two of three matches. Denver’s No. 2 duo of Alex Gasson (Alton, U.K.) and Yannik James (St. Georges, Grenada) posted the lone win of the day, beating Augie Bloom and Dan Davies 8-5.

Pulling off singles wins for Denver were No. 101 ranked Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) and Diogo Rocha (Lisbon, Portugal). Craig first netted a 7-6, 6-3 victory over No. 108 Zack McCourt in the No. 1 spot, then Rocha beat Tom Colautti 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. Aidan Talcott (Seacliff, N.Y.) battled through three sets, and ultimately lost to Florin Radu 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot. Gasson and Fabio Biasion (Velbert, Germany) pushed their competitors to tiebreaker points, but lost in straight sets.   

Denver will next play on Thursday, March 20 when it travels to the San Diego Invitational.
