Aug. 15, 2014 DENVER - Former DU volleyball star Faimie Kingsley has recently been named as the Assistant Coach at Columbia University.
Last year, she had a successful one-year campaign overseas with the PGNig Nafta Pila in Poland which saw her start 25 matches on her way to making the Orlen League's record book. She placed in the top 10 in her position with 65 total blocks and the top 25 in points per game with 244.
Kingsley played all four years at DU, earning All-Sun Belt Conference first team honors her junior year as well as being a finalist for the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year award, having been ranked fourth in the NCAA with 1.58 blocks per set. She was also named the Pioneers' most valuable player, and was recognized both on the Top 30 Senior CLASS Award list and on the 2012 All-WAC first team. A captain her senior year, she currently ranks third in Denver's history with a .308 career attack percentage, fourth in career blocks per set (1.19) and ninth with 278 career block assists.
Outside of volleyball, Kingsley was an executive member of the Denver's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a representative for the Sun Belt Conference's and WAC's SAAC. Leaving DU with a marketing degree, she also earned a spot on the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List twice and on the 2012 All-Academic WAC List.
For the past eight years, Kingsley mentors Inspiring Young Minds students through the boarding school application process and assists with the sports programs. She has also contributed to the Annual Boarding School Fair as a guest lecturer and executive board member, as well as has conducted interviews for the Diane Brown Legacy Award Scholarship.
Leading up to her assistant coaching position, Kingsley assisted at the Colorado State University Volleyball Camp, Jesse Mahoney Volleyball Camp and Beth Kuwata Volleyball Camp, improving the skills of up-and-coming volleyball players by coaching fundamentals of the sport.
