The University of Denver men's soccer team has announced a pair of key additions, including one very familiar face.
Cole Chapleski (Broomfield, Colo), a four year member of the Pioneers, is back in the fold but this time as the Director of Operations.
"We are so excited to bring back Cole Chapleski to join our staff," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "He was a great four year member of the Pioneer family. We know the DU pride and work rate he brought on the field during his playing career will show through as he contributes to the program in his new position."
A year ago Chapleski was named All-Summit League first team and also placed on the Academic All Summit League.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to give back to a program that has given so much to me, not only in development as a player but in my development as a young man," Chapleski said. "Seeing the way a team works from such a different perspective has already proved to be a very valuable experience. I'm ready to do whatever I can to ensure that we build on what I already helped create here as a player.
Also joining the staff is a former foe, Levi Rossi (Denver, Colo). The former standout for the University of New Mexico, and one of the most academically decorated Lobos ever, is now a Pioneer. Rossi has been named Volunteer Assistant Coach for DU.
"Adding Levi Rossi really rounds out our staff for the upcoming season," Muuss said. "He had a wonderful four year career at New Mexico and really embodies what a true student athlete is all about. He is an extremely competitive person and will provide useful insights to our players as well as assisting the staff on a daily basis."
Rossi, in his senior season (2012) was one of only a handful of Lobos to play in all 22-games. He set a personal best in points with 8 and tallied 6 goals and 19 points in his career.
"Growing up in Denver I have a lot of pride in this city and the state of Colorado," began Rossi. "I couldn't be happier to have the chance to join the staff at DU and get back into the college game in my home town. It's exciting to join a successful program and hopefully I'm able to bring some things I've learned from my time in college soccer and continue to help the program grow and improve."
Like Chapleski, who played his high school soccer locally at Broomfield High School, Rossi played at Regis Jesuit High School.
The Pioneers are continuing their preseason camp in Vail, Colorado. They will return to campus Saturday and will take on Air Force in an exhibition tilt Sunday afternoon at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. If you are planning to attend, admission is free.
