DENVER -The No. 63 University of Denver men's tennis team had their home opener spoiled by No. 61 Princeton Saturday at the Colorado Athletic Club. The Pioneers fell, 5-2 in front of a crowd of 150 fans.

Denver took the lead with a clean sweep of the doubles matchups. Junior Henry Craig and freshman Jesse Ruder-Hook earned the first win of the match by taking down Joshua Yablon and Kial Kaiser, 6-4. Sophomores Diogo Rocha and Yannik James clinched the doubles point after they defeated Zack McCourt and Alexander Day, 6-3.

"We have to give Princeton a lot of credit," said Head Coach Danny Westerman. "They handled the tight moments better than we did tonight."

The Pioneers would push courts two and six to a third set, but Princeton would take home the match win with five singles victories.

"We fought hard and played with the right intensity, but need to step up a bit more next time," said Westerman. "I know we will learn from this and make our adjustments for next week's match versus Nebraska."

Denver will be back in action on Saturday February 7, when they take on Nebraska at 4:30 p.m. MT at the Colorado Athletic Club on Monaco.
