NCAA Regionals will be held April 4

No. 16 Denver Selected to Ames Regional

DENVER - The No. 16 University of Denver women's gymnastics team will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the NCAA Regionals on April 4, the NCAA announced on Monday. DU will join No. 4 LSU, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 24 Washington, No. 28 Michigan State and host No. 33 Iowa State. The meet is set for a 3 p.m. MDT start at Hilton Coliseum.

This is the Pioneers' 17th consecutive NCAA berth, qualifying in each of head coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart's seasons leading the squad. DU will be looking to secure its first trip to the NCAA National Championships since 2008.

Denver finished third at the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships with a 196.075 on Saturday and will enter Regionals with a 16-6-1 record in 2015. The team's 196.455 RQS is the third highest in program history.

In 2014, DU competed at the Seattle Regional hosted by the University of Washington, finishing third with a team total of 195.625, behind Alabama (197.550) and Nebraska (196.975). Moriah Martin qualified through to Nationals after posting a 39.225 in the all-around.

The NCAA National Championships are set for April 17-19 in Fort Worth, Texas. The top two teams at each of the six Regionals will qualify for Nationals, along with the event winners and top two all-around competitors from non-advancing teams.
