BATON ROUGE, La. - The University of Denver women's golf team wrapped up their regular season slate Sunday by earning a ninth place result in the LSU Tiger Classic. The Pioneers finished the tournament at 53-over par, tied with Central Florida.

Host school LSU won the tournament at 15-over par, five strokes better than Mississippi State. TCU finished third at 31-over par on The University Club course.

"This course is all about executing solid golf shots and being confident in your putting," said Denver head coach Lindsay Kuhle. "This course is a challenge and I think points out where players need improvement. I know all of the team is motivated after this tournament to work on all areas of their games."

The most consistent Pioneer over the weekend was sophomore Jessica Carty (Holywood, Northern Ireland) who shot +1 for the final round and completed the tournament at 10-over par, good for 19th place in the 89 player field.

Also shining for Denver was freshman Jessica Dreesbeimdieke (Windhoek, Namibia) who finished the tournament at 12-over par, placing her in 23rd place.

"Really proud of the way Jess Carty and Jess D competed today and all week," remarked Kuhle. "They fought hard from the first hole to the very end and had a lot of great birdie opportunities out there this week."

Elise Bradley of LSU and Rica Tse of Mississippi State were the co-winners of the tournament, both finishing at 2-under par.

The Pioneers will now get ready to defend their Summit League championship when the league hosts its annual tournament April 20-22 at the picturesque Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, California.

"We will be better golfers because of this tournament (Tiger Classic) and our finish this week," said Kuhle. "We'll be ready to compete at the league championship in a few weeks."

The challenging par 72, 7,104-yard course has spectacular views of Monterey Bay and provides a perfect setting for a championship tournament.
