DENVER- Sports are full of surprises. However, it is never a surprise when Petter Mikalsen (Stavanger, Norway) wins the Summit League Male Golfer of the Week award. The outstanding sophomore this week added his fourth such Summit League honor for his performance at The Goodwin tournament in Palo Alto, California, hosted by Stanford.

Mikalsen shot even par for the tournament, placing him in 25^th place out of 132 others. On the historic and demanding Stanford Golf Course, Mikalsen shot a steady 70-71-69 for a tourney total of 210.

"This is Petter's fourth time receiving the honor of Summit League Golfer of the Week," said Pioneers head coach Erik Billinger. "Again, it is just a testament to his hard work and love for the game. We are so proud of Petter, congrats to him."

Mikalsen and the rest of the Pioneers are gearing up for their next tournament, the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City beginning on April 18^th.

Meanwhile, on another bright note for Denver golf, Jessica Carty (Holywood, Northern Ireland) won Summit League Female Golfer of the Week honors
