The Summit League Schedule Release

The Summit League Composite Schedule

DENVER - The University of Denver women's basketball team opens its third season in The Summit League on the road in Brookings, S.D., on Dec. 30 against last year's regular season champions, the Coyotes of South Dakota. The Pioneers ring in 2016 with their first home league game on New Year's Day against the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits, the 2015 Summit League Tournament champions and a 2015 NCAA Tournament team. DU wraps up the nine-week league schedule at home on Feb. 27, against the Omaha Mavericks. Denver is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Kerry Cremeans.

Denver returns a team that went 5-11 in Summit League regular season play in 2014-15 with a 4-4 home record in Magness Arena. The Pioneers captured a huge 77-72 home win over Summit League foe SDSU on Feb. 11 last season.

The Pioneers return with a two-time Honorable Mention All-Summit League player in senior point guard Paige Bradley (The Woodlands, Texas). In 2014-15 Bradley led the Pioneers in points (12.7 ppg), assists (4.4 apg), steals (31) and three-point shooting percentage (42%). On Jan. 24 in an 82-75 win over the Mastodons of IPFW, Bradley set the school record with 14 assists in the Pioneers first Summit League road win in school history.

Cremeans' squad also returns the top three rebounders from a season ago. Junior Alecia Espinoza (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) led the Pioneers in rebounding in 2014-15 with an average of 6.5 rebounds per game. Forward Jesse Spittel (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was the team's second leading rebounder at more than five boards per game and during her freshman campaign forward Jordyn Alt (North Oaks, Minn.) snagged an impressive 4.8 rebounds per game off the bench.

The 2016 Summit League Women's Basketball Championship is set for March 5-8, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
