Denver Women's Basketball Adds Jahla Osborne

Sept. 15, 2015

DENVER - Head women's basketball coach Kerry Cremeans announced the addition of Jahla Osborne (Stafford, Va.) to the Pioneers roster on Tuesday. Osborne, who spent last season at Army, will sit out the upcoming season as a redshirt.

In her lone season for the Golden Knights, Osborne appeared in 15 games as a true freshman, averaging 1.4 points and 1.0 rebound per contest. The Stafford, Va. native registered a season-high seven points and three rebounds in a win against Air Force back on Nov. 25 of last year.

"We are excited to bring Jahla into our program," said Cremeans. "She comes highly recommended by former coaches and we fell in love with her and her family on their visit to Denver.

"Jahla is a hard-working and dedicated student-athlete of the highest character who has made a commitment to help build our program to a championship level," Cremeans said when talking about Osborne. "She brings a strong, athletic presence to our inside game, and we are thrilled with the opportunity to coach her as she represents the University of Denver."

Prior to her time at Army, the 6-foot forward was a standout at Colonial Forge High School under head coach Michelle Darley. Osborne was the Conference 4 Player of the Year as a senior, which she posted a double-double average of 15.2 points and 12 rebounds per game. She was also selected to the Virginia High School League 6A South Region first team. Osborne also was a two-time Free Lance Star All-Area first-team selection in 2013 and 2014. She was the first player in Colonial Forge women's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point total for a career.

DU opens the 2015-16 season at home in Magness Arena on Nov. 13 against Northern Colorado. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
