San Francisco 4-0 Denver | Season Tickets | 2015 Schedule
SAN FRANCISCO - The University of Denver women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 result to San Francisco on Friday night at Negoesco Stadium.
"We learned today that you can't just hit the reset button at halftime," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We came out flat and they came out flying. We played well in the second half, but when you're down the way we were at halftime, just playing well in the second half isn't quite good enough. We got broken down more times tonight than we have in a long time. Give credit to San Francisco, as I said, they came out flying and they punished us early."
San Francisco scored its first of four first half goals in the fifth minute as Jessica Nakae hit an arching 25-yard shot over the outstretched arms of junior goalkeeper Cassidy Rey (Arcadia, Calif.). The Dons got their three other goals in the stanza from Sonja Giraud (28th), Rochelle Weerackoon (31st) and Micaela Mercado (32nd).
Freshman Leah Swander (Grand Junction, Colo.) played 43 minutes as a substitute tonight on her return from injury in last weekend's match against Wyoming.
