BALTIMORE - University of Denver midfielder Colin Woolford (Norwalk, Conn.) was selected with the second pick of the third round (20th overall) by the Charlotte Hounds in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on Friday afternoon at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Woolford played in all 19 games for the 2015 National Champions, scoring 10 goals and tallying three assists for the Pioneers. The Connecticut, native scored six of his 10 goals in Denver's six 2015 postseason games, including a pair of goals in the BIG EAST Championship.
"Colin is one of the hardest working guys that in my 36 years of college lacrosse I've had the pleasure of coaching, probably in my top-5," head coach Bill Tierney said. "He's made himself a very good lacrosse player. Colin's got the athletic gifts of being tall, strong and fast, but he's the only one that can take credit for his skill set from the time that he has put in. He's a prototypical MLL midfielder in that he can dodge downhill, shoot with both hands and get back on defense if needed."
