PIONEERS & TERRIERS SET TO CLASH AT MAGNESS ARENA

Oct. 12, 2016

The No. 10 DU Pioneers (0-2-0) will take on the No. 2 BU Terriers (1-0-0) this weekend in a two-game series at Magness Arena. Puck drop for Friday is set for 7:30pm while Saturday's game will begin at 7:00pm. Tickets to both of these DU Homecoming & Family Weekend contests can be obtained by clicking HERE. More information on #PioHoco can be obtained by clicking HERE.

Both of this weekend's games will be broadcast by Altitude Sports (Fri - ALT1, Sat - ALT2; CHANNEL FINDER) as well as 104.3 FM The Fan. Fans can also watch on the web via NCHC.TV or listen via PioneerVision.

Denver is 14-15-2 all-time versus Boston University, a record which includes a 3-2 mark at the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers went 1-1-0 versus the Terriers last season, dropping a 5-4 OT decision to BU at Agganis Arena on Halloween prior to capturing a 7-2 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at St. Paul, Minnesota's Xcel Energy Center in March. Six different skaters found the back of the net for DU that night, including Colorado Avalanche prospect Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis.) who scored twice on the power play. The seven goals scored represented a season-high for Denver, who went on to defeat Ferris State in the West Regional Final to earn a berth in the Frozen Four.

The Pioneers are coming off of a pair of losses at last weekend's College Hockey, Inc. Ice Breaker Tournament (3-2 vs. OSU on Oct. 7 & 3-1 vs. BC on Oct. 8) while the Terriers defeated Colgate by a score of 6-1 last Saturday in their lone game of the season thus far. Boston University features no fewer than 11 NHL draft picks on their roster including four student-athletes selected in Round 1 of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft this past summer.

"The Terriers have a lot of high-end skill on their roster so we'll need to be sharp in terms of puck pressure and puck support in order to be successful against them this weekend," says Denver bench boss Jim Montgomery.

Denver will be without the services of sophomore sniper Dylan Gambrell (Bonney Lake, Wash.) this weekend and for the next 4-6 weeks as the San Jose Sharks prospect sustained an upper body injury earlier this month.

Following this weekend's series against BU the Pios will travel to East Lansing, Mich. to battle the MSU Spartans on Oct. 21-22 at Munn Arena. Denver will then return to Magness Arena for its first NCHC series of the season, Oct. 28-29 vs. Western Michigan. Denver's complete 2016-17 schedule can be viewed HERE.
