Pioneers Ranked No. 2 on National Polls

Nov. 28, 2016

The DU Pioneers came in at No. 2 on the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine NCAA Div. I Hockey polls again this week, both of which were announced earlier today. Denver also came in at No. 2 on this week's edition of ESPN broadcaster John Buccigross' #cawlidgehawkey poll.

Denver extended its unbeaten streak to 12 games (9-0-3) this past weekend, defeating Air Force by a score of 4-3 (OT) at Cadet Ice Arena on Friday and capturing a 6-5 home win over Wisconsin on Saturday. The Pioneers (9-2-3, 3-0-3-2 NCHC) resume NCHC play this weekend as they take on the Colorado College Tigers (3-9-0, 1-3-0-0 NCHC) in a home-and-home series in the first 'Battle for the Gold Pan' action of 2016-17.

Denver has won the Gold Pan in each of the last two seasons and enters Friday's game at Broadmoor World Arena (puck drop - 7:30pm, ESPN Denver 1600 AM) on an eight-game winning streak versus Colorado College dating back to November of 2014. Since first clashing on January 6, 1950, DU and CC have squared off a total of 302 times with the Pioneers having amassed an all-time record of 169-116-17 against the Tigers.
