Feb. 25, 2016

Summit League Release

DENVER - University of Denver freshman Katharina Baratta (Klosterneuburg, Austria) was named The Summit League Women's Golfer of the week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced on Thursday.

"Another great week from Kathi," head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "She putted really well the second day and continued to strike the ball very well. It's fun to watch her compete and continue to improve with each tournament played."

Baratta finished in a tie for 25th shooting a 220 (75-70-75) at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championships hosted by Tulane. The freshman averaged a 73.3 in a field that consisted of eight top-25 teams and 12 in the top 50.

This is the second career Summit League Golfer of the Week honor for the DU freshman to go along with a previously shared Golfer of the Month with the University of South Dakota's Brenna Lervick back in September.

Denver returns to action on Monday, Feb. 29 as they head to California for the Bruin/Wave Classic. The three-round tournament will be held at the San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
