DENVER - The 52nd-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team beat Brigham Young University 4-3 today in their second home match in as many days. The visiting Cougars had been undefeated prior to facing the Pioneers.

The Pios went 3-3 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles.

"It was a great team effort again," head coach Ricardo Rubio said. "This time the match came down to Jesse and he showed a great fight after losing the first set in a tie breaker. For him to come through for us under that much pressure shows how much he has improved this year. We were down two players today and we still found a way to get the job done. We now have about two weeks to keep getting stronger and get on the road again."

DU received singles victories from Henry Craig (Murietta, Calif.), Alex Gasson (Alton, United Kingdom) and Jesse Ruder-Hook (Denver, Colo.).

The Pioneers swept the doubles matches with victories from Craig/Gasson, Diogo Rocha(Lisbon, Portugal)/Zach Fryer (Centennial, Colo.) and David Fox (Surrey, United Kingdom)/Ruder-Hook.

Denver will have a few weeks off before traveling to Tuscon, Ariz. to take on the University of Nevada and the University of Arizona from Feb. 20-21.
