Colorado Springs, Colo. - The University of Denver Diving team competed in the Air Force Academy Diving Invitational this past weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo. Junior Larissa Grammer (Olathe, Colo.) and freshmen Drew Soffer (Chicago, Ill.), Ryan Reed (Springdale, Ark.) and Jackson Martin (Boulder, Colo.) all competed in the two-day diving event.
"I was pleased with all of the DU divers' performances at the Falcon Invite," head diving coach Channing Kimball said. "This meet brings the best divers in the Rocky Mountain Region together for a competition that prepares the athletes for their respective conference championships. Having veteran Larissa Grammer score over 200 points on each springboard event for the first time at this meet was a big accomplishment, as well as her scoring a new personal record on the platform event.
"The three freshmen - Reed, Martin, and Soffer - continued their personal improvements and stayed positive throughout the long meet. This is a solid foundation for us as we look forward to the 2016 Summit Championship Meet and the 2016-2017 season."
Grammer finished 36th overall in the one meter diving event with a total score of 205.35, while Soffer placed 48th overall with a final score of 153.90. Grammer placed 29th overall in the three meter diving event (232.15), while Soffer finished 49th overall (149.70). Grammer also took part in the women's platform diving event and finished in 32nd place with a final score of 155.10.
On the men's side, Reed finished 15th overall in the one meter diving event with a final score of 251.60, while teammate Martin finished 19th overall (203.75). Reed placed 15th in the three meter diving event (238.65), while Martin finished 20th with a final score of 195.70. Both men also competed in the men's platform diving event with Reed placing 15th overall (174.00) and Martin finishing close behind in 16th (121.65).
