San Diego, Calif. - The 46th-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team fell to the No. 28 Tulane University 4-3 today in San Diego. The Pioneers now hold a 9-5 overall record.
DU received singles victories from Yannick James (St. Georges, Grenada) and Zach Fryer (Centennial, Colo.). James defeated Alex Van Cott (Tulane) 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 while Fryer beat Tyler Schick (Tulane) 6-4, 6-4 in his singles match.
The Pioneers went 2-0 in doubles play with victories coming from the pairs of Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) and Diogo Rocha (Lisbon, Portugal), as well as James and Fryer. Craig/Rocha beat Constantin Schmitz and Sebastian Rey 6-3, while James and Jesse Ruder-Hook (Denver, Colo.) defeated Alex Van Cott and Ian Van Cott 6-4.
Denver will now play No. 49 Harvard tomorrow on the University of San Diego campus.
