Day Two Final Results
Atlanta, Ga. - The University of Denver Women's swim team continued competition today on day two of the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming Championships. The championship races are taking place at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Georgia Tech's campus in Atlanta, Ga.
Freshman Bailey Andison (Smith Falls, Ontario) showed another impressive performance on her second consecutive day of NCAA competition, setting a new school record for the second time in as many days, this time in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:08.02 during her preliminary race. Her finals time of 4:06.97 was good for 10th place overall, beating her previous school record set earlier today and setting a new Summit League record.
Maddie Myers (Arvada, Colo.) also swam in the 400 IM and finished 28th overall with a time of 4:11.42. Teammate Johanna Roas (Munich, Germany) raced in the 100 backstroke event and finished with a time of 53.08, good for 33rd overall in the preliminary round. Sophomore Morgan McCormick (Golden, Colo.) also competed in the 100 backstroke and finished 48th overall with a time of 54.09. Amanda Sanders (Superior, Colo.) swam in the 100 breaststroke event today and finished 42nd overall in the preliminary race with a time of 1:01.39.
"Our women are racing hard and I am proud of our efforts," head coach Brian Schrader said. "Bailey truly had a breakthrough performance and our women's training groups helped get her there. Maddie Myers, Johanna Roas, Morgan McCormick and Amanda Sanders all had solid efforts today. We are excited to see what day four brings."
The third day of racing at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships will continue tomorrow with preliminary swims scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. MT followed by the finals at 4:00 p.m. MT. Myers will compete in the 1650 freestyle race tomorrow, while Roas and McCormick are set to take part in the 200 backstroke event. Sanders will race in the 200 breaststroke event. The 400 free relay team of Roas, Lauren Moden (Parker, Colo.), Zoe Huddleston (Rothschild, Wis.) and Morgan Wice-Roslin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will also swim in their relay race tomorrow.
