San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The 47th-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team beat the California Polytechnic Institute 5-2 today in their first of two matches in The Golden State this weekend.
The Pios went 4-2 in singles play and 2-3 in doubles matches.
DU received singles victories from Henry Craig (Murietta, Calif.), Diogo Rocha (Lisbon, Portugal), Alex Gasson (Alton, United Kingdom) and Yannik James (St. Georges, Grenada).
The Pioneers also picked up victories in doubles play from the duo of Craig/Rocha and the pair of James/Jesse Ruder-Hook (Denver, Colo.).
Denver will now travel to Santa Barbara to take on UCSB on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. MT.
