Albuquerque, N.M. - The 52nd-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team defeated the No. 62 ranked University of New Mexico 5-2 today at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Pioneers went 2-0 in doubles action today and 4-2 in their singles matches. DU improved their overall record to 16-7 on the season.

DU received singles victories from Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.), Yannik James (St. Georges, Grenada), Alex Gasson (Alton, United Kingdom) and Wyatt Lovera (Miami, Fla.) to help claim the win for the Pioneers.

In doubles play, Craig and Gasson paired up to defeat Bart Van Leijsen and Hayden Sabatka (UNM) 6-2, while James and Jesse Ruder-Hook (Denver, Colo.) beat Jorge Escutia and Ricky Hernandez-Tong (UNM) 6-3 in their doubles match. Rocha and Fryer also competed in doubles play, however their match went unfinished.

The team will travel to Omaha, NE next weekend to begin competition at the Summit League Championships. The conference tournament will take place from Thursday, April 28 to Sunday, May 1.
