William Dowhan (1939-2016) Skated in 50 Career Games as a Pioneer from 1961-63

IN MEMORIAM: WILLIAM DOWHAN

The Denver Hockey Family suffered another loss this week, as former Pioneers forward William Dowhan passed away at the age of 76 in Aurora, Colorado. Dowhan skated for DU in the early-1960s, amassing 13G-20A-33P-38PIM in 50 career games played. After graduating, he practiced law for several years in Metro Denver.

A native of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Dowhan skated with his hometown Bombers (SJHL) in 1958-59 and with the Winnipeg Braves (MJHL) in 1959-60 prior to enrolling at Denver. He participated in the inaugural MJHL All-Star Game in 1960, finishing ninth in the league in scoring that season.

A vigil service for Dowhan will be held on Wednesday August 31 beginning at 7pm at Horan McConaty Family Chapel 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue at Parker Road in Aurora. A funeral mass will be held Thursday September 1 beginning at 10am at St. Pius X Catholic Church - 13670 East 13th Place in Aurora.
