DENVER – Forward
Sam Harris and defenseman
Eric Pohlkamp of the Denver Pioneers hockey team were both named to the 2025-26 NCHC Preseason All-Conference Team on Wednesday.
Denver was the only program in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference to have multiple players named to the squad that was selected by local and national media members. The two Pioneer juniors were joined on the team by forwards Cullen Potter of Arizona State, Max Plante of Minnesota Duluth, defenseman Jake Livanavage of North Dakota and goaltender Hampton Slukynsky of Western Michigan.
Harris led DU and ranked tied for ninth in the nation in 2024-25 with 23 goals. He also added 12 assists to finish with 35 points. The San Diego, California, native led the NCAA with 11 power-play goals and tied for fourth in the country with seven game-winning markers, which also gave him a share of the fourth-most in a campaign in DU history.
A member of the All-NCHC Third Team from last season, Harris has recorded 51 career points (34 goals and 17 assists) in 69 career games. He is 16 goals from becoming the 63rd skater in Pioneers history to reach the 50-goal threshold.
Pohlkamp ranked second among all Denver defensemen in scoring last season after totaling 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points. He placed fourth in the NCAA among defensemen in scoring and was tied for fifth at his position in goals in the country. The Baxter, Minnesota, native led DU and tied for second in the nation with a plus-31 rating and also paced the Pioneers with 60 blocked shots.
Also a member of the 2024-25 All-NCHC Third Team, Pohlkamp was named the conference's defenseman of the week three times last season and was recognized on the NCAA Northeast Regional All-Tournament Team. He owns 59 career points (22 goals and 37 assists), 40 penalty minutes and 107 blocked shots in his two-year NCAA career, which began in 2023-24 at Bemidji State.
Harris led all NCHC forwards and ranked second overall on the ballot with 22 votes, with only Livanavage having more by being listed by 25-of-30 voters. Pohlkamp earned 16 votes.
This is the fourth-straight season that Denver has had multiple players named to the NCHC Preseason All-Conference Team, with
