DENVER – The University of Denver is set to host the Colorado Avalanche and Utah Mammoth in a National Hockey League preseason game on Sunday, Sept. 21 at Magness Arena.

Tickets start at less than $34. Presale begins tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 13 while the general on sale is this Friday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. MT.

Each team's roster will be released on game day. The NHL requires each club to have at least eight players with a minimum of 30 games of NHL experience the previous season or 100 career games to dress in every preseason outing.

This will be the first preseason contest of the season for both teams and starts a split-squad double header for the organizations, as the Avs and Mammoth will square off later that evening at Ball Arena.

The last time the Avalanche organization played at Magness Arena was in 2017 for the then-Burgundy/White intrasquad game. DU also hosted that scrimmage in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The Denver Pioneers hockey team will be making a trip to play at Ball Arena, the home of the Avalanche, later this season on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. MT against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the 2025 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Tickets for that outing are on sale now at
