March 31, 2017 The DU Pioneers captured a dramatic home victory on Friday afternoon at Lifetime Fitness Centennial, defeating the Drake Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 in come-from-behind fashion to extend their winning streak to three matches. Denver is now 8-9 on the season.
After the Pios took the doubles point, the Bulldogs won a pair of singles matches in straight sets to take a 2-1 lead. "This was a great team win for us," Denver head coach Ricardo Rubio said following Friday's exhilarating victory. "The way we fought back after falling behind was great to see and the way Alex kept his composure and played with such poise during a very intense match was extremely impressive. Our seniors are doing a great job of leading this team and we're definitely heading in the right direction as a group right now. We have a good opportunity on Sunday to get back to .500 for the season so hopefully we can keep this momentum going into our match versus the Gauchos."
The Crimson & Gold will look to improve to 9-9 on the season on Sunday at 12pm noon vs. UCSB at Colorado Athletic Club-Monaco. Click HERE to view DU's complete 2017 schedule.
