PIONEERS DROP 4-1 DECISION TO LOBOS

April 21, 2017

The DU men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to New Mexico on Friday afternoon at Lifetime Fitness Centennial in its penultimate match of the 2017 regular season. Denver (10-12, 3-0 Summit League) will wrap up its regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon (2pm, CAC-Monaco) vs. league rivals Omaha (8-11, 2-1 Summit League).

After New Mexico took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead on Friday, DU tied things up at one apiece courtesy of sophomore Ignatius Castelino, who defeated Sean Baklini in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) to register the second win of his career. The Lobos then proceeded to take the next three singles decisions to capture the team victory. Click HERE for complete scoring from Friday's contest.

Prior to Saturday's match against the Mavericks, all three of Denver's graduating student-athletes (Diogo Rocha, Alex Gasson & Yannik James) will be recognized for their contributions to the program. A victory by DU over UNO will give the Pioneers their fourth consecutive perfect season in Summit League play. Live scoring for Saturday's intraleague showdown can be followed .
