April 22, 2017 COURSE INFORMATION
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - The University of Denver women's golf team heads to Nebraska City looking to defend its title of Summit League Champion this weekend at the Summit League Championship. The three-day event begins with opening-round play on Sunday at the Arbor Links Golf Course.
Par for the course is 72.
The Pioneers come into the tournament looking to make it 14 straight league/conference championships for them. The Crimson and Gold have won the league title in every year since joining the Summit League back in 2013.
Head coach Lindsay Kuhle is going with the lineup of Jessica Carty, Mariell Bruun, Lauren Whyte, Jessica Dreesbeimdieke and Sophie Newlove. All but Whyte were in the lineup last year when Denver won by an astounding 52 strokes in the tournament.
Carty, the defending Summit League Golfer of the Year, is looking to repeat as individual medalist. The senior took home the title last year with a 54-hole total of 217, which tied the tournament record for lowest score.
Newlove heads into the tournament after a strong performance at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic back on April 9. Her great play at that tournament got her golfer of the week honors from the league, which was part of a three-week run in which a Pioneer player earned the honor.
The first round gets underway at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday.
