DENVER - The University of Denver women's swimming and diving team captured a share of the 2017 Mid-Major Title in a release by CollegeSwimming.com on Wednesday. Denver won the Summit League title behind All-Americans Bailey Andison (Smiths Falls, Ontario) and Amanda Sanders (Superior, Colo.) and NCAA Qualifiers Morgan McCormick (Golden, Colo.) and Maddie Myers (Arvada, Colo.). Last year, DU took the top spot with a total of 816.48 points as Andison, Sanders and McCormick all made an impact in the pool for the Crimson and Gold.
The Pioneers finished ahead of Boise State, Akron and Harvard for the top five on the women's side, while the men finished ahead of Yale and Air Force. For conference rankings, the Ivy League, Mid-American Conference and Mountain West Conference checked in the top three on the women's side, while the Ivy League, WAC and American Athletic Conference rounded out the three top spots on the men's side.
Beginning in 2015, CollegeSwimming defined Mid-Majors as those programs outside of the Power Five (Big Ten, Pac 12, Big 12, ACC, SEC) or those that offered fewer than 50% of the maximum number of scholarships allowed by the NCAA.
