Denver Set for a Weekend at Home

DENVER— Fresh off a Tuesday victory, the DU women's volleyball team prepares to host North Dakota State on Friday, Oct. 19 and North Dakota on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Pioneers sit at first in the Summit League standings, the only team that still holds a perfect conference record (8-0).

The Crimson and Gold's 3-2 victory over Omaha on Tuesday, Oct. 16 extended their win streak to 17 matches, bringing them to a 19-1 mark on the year.

Denver leads the NCAA with 157 total service aces and 2.11 aces pet set, while also ranking first in six Summit League categories: kills per set (14.01), hitting percentage (.276), blocks per set (2.25) service aces (157), aces per set (2.11) and assists per set (13.07). The Pioneers' 157 aces for the season check in at No. 10 on the Denver single-season record list.

North Dakota State comes to the Mile High City with a 5-14 mark, sitting seventh in the league standings at 3-5 . The Bison are averaging 10.9 kills pet set, 10 assists, 15.8 digs, and two blocks. Allie Mauch leads the team with 198 kills in 72 sets, but is only hitting .164 percent for the season, and Abbi Klos tops the leader board with 254 digs (3.53 d/s) for NDSU.

Of their five league losses, one came from the Pioneers. DU took down North Dakota State in four sets on its home court earlier this year back on Sept. 30.

The North Dakota Hawks hold a 13-13 record, going 5-5 in its first year in league play. UND ranks No. 4 in the league standings with 12.29 kills per set, 16.89 digs per set, and a .201 hitting percentage. Taliyah Flores, a libero for North Dakota, checks in at the No. 1 spot in the league with 459 digs, and No. 3 for digs per set (4.88).

Earlier this season, Denver faced North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D. on Oct. 7, handing the Hawks a 3-1 loss.
