DENVER – Senior Andre Shinyashiki (Sao Paulo, Brazil) netted goals 20 and 21 on the season for his 13^th career multi-goal game to lift the [5/4] University of Denver men's soccer team past Purdue Fort Wayne 2-0 on a rainy Friday night at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
 
Shinyashiki has scored two or more goals in seven matches this season and has eight game-winning goals in Denver's 10 wins. Denver reached double digit wins for the seventh-consecutive season, all with head coach Jamie Franks on staff and the last four with Franks as the head coach.  
 
Denver and Purdue Fort played to a scoreless opening 45 minutes before Shinyashiki found the breakthrough in the 56^th off assists from Tuesday's hero Stefan DeLeone (Fort Collins, Colo.) and sophomore starting holding mid Jacob Stensson (Stockholm, Sweden), who returned to the lineup on Friday after missing Tuesday's match due to yellow card accumulation. DeLeone and Stensson won the ball off a double team to start the Denver opener . The Denver freshman knocked it to Stensson who played Shinyashiki at the top of the box. Shinyashiki let the ball roll all the way across his body and fired home his 20^th of the season from just outside the 18.
 
Shinyashiki doubled Denver's lead in the 88^th minute, starting with a defensive play. The Denver skipper won a tackle just inside Denver's attacking half for sophomore holding mid Destan Norman (Fort Collins, Colo.) to run on to. Norman drifted to his right to draw the Dons' centerback before sliding a pass on the ground to the run of Shinyashiki who finished goal number 21 of the campaign from just inside the box to seal the Pioneers 10^th victory of the season.
 
Entering play on Friday, Shinyashiki had a seven goals edge over the next two closest players in the scoring chart in the country, a figure he improved upon with the 43^rd and 44^th goal of his career.
 
In his second start of the season, and the first at home in his career, redshirt-sophomore Will Palmquist (Denver, Colo.) made two saves in his second-consecutive cleansheet.
 
Denver out-shot Purdue Fort Wayne 14-9 in the match, putting half of its efforts on target.

The Pioneers will head back out on the road Monday night to battle [10/6] Virginia. The match is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. MT, and will be broadcast live on ACC Network.
