DENVER – The University of Denver women's golf team wrapped up day one of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate on Friday, finishing in eighth. The Pioneers posted a team score of 300, 12-over par for the round.
Par for the 6,513-yard course was 72 at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.
Colorado State is the leader in the clubhouse through 18 holes of play at 2-under, five strokes ahead of Kansas in the 16-team field.
Head coach
Lindsay Kuhle went with the lineup of
Mary Weinstein,
Sophie Newlove,
Alyson Bean,
Alison Armstrong and
Maggie Cowart.
Camille Enright,
Trussy Li and
Anni Heck will competed, but as individuals.
Newlove, who won the event as a sophomore back in 2016, lead the way for DU on day one, firing an even-par 72 on the afternoon. The England native closed out the round tied for fourth.
Armstrong tied for 11th with a 1-over effort on the day, her best round as a Pioneer.
Weinstein is tied for 42nd after firing a 4-over in the round.
Bean closed out the day tied for 74th and Cowart tied for 79th.
Enright is tied for 11th as an individual after putting up a 73 on Friday.
Li, also competing as an individual, tied for 17th.
Round two is set for Saturday with a start time at 9 a.m.
