
Pioneers Sweep Denver Relays to Start 2018-19

22 Pioneers earn a victory in the opening meet of the season
Results
DENVER – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs swept the Denver Relays on Saturday afternoon at El Pomar Natatorium, the first meet of the season for both programs.

In the first meet of his sophomore year Cameron Auchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior Neil Wachtler (Waco, Texas) each won six events apiece to lead the Pioneers on Saturday. Sophomore Adriel Sanes (Rosharon, Texas) added five event wins for Denver. Auchinachie, Wachtler and Sanes were on the same winning relay in the 200 medley, the 4X25 freestyle, the 4X25 medley and the 4X100 freestyle. Auchinachie and Wachtler were also paired with freshman Finn Kennard-Campbell (Hamilton, New Zealand) to win the 3X100 backstroke.
Sophomore Jackson Gainer (San Jose, Calif.), classmate Cy Jager (Moscow, Idaho) and junior Hugo Sykes (Weston, Conn.) were the other multi-event winners for the Pioneer men.
On the women's side redshirt-senior Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C.) and senior Lauren Moden (Parker, Colo.) co-led the women's program with four event wins on the day, winning the 200 medley, 3X100 backstroke, 4X25 freestyle and 4X25 medley together with teammates.
Sophomore Charlotte Simon (Saint Remy, France), junior Josie Valette (Boulder, Colo.) and freshman Brandi Vu (Longmont, Colo.) each won three events in the Pioneers Saturday afternoon victory. Junior Kylie Cronin (Marblehead, Mass.) was the only other multi-event winner with victories in the 3X100 fly and the 4X100 IM.
