DENVER – University of Denver centerback Scott DeVoss (Centennial, Colo.) has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, the publication announced on Tuesday.
DeVoss captained a backline that kept two cleansheets in last week's action, a 1-0 extra time win at No. 8 Creighton last Tuesday and in a 2-0 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne three days later. Denver's defense allowed just two shots on goal in the victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, the 15th time they've limited opponents to two shots on goal or less in the last two years, including the seventh time already in 2018.
Co-captain Andre Shinyashiki (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earned honorable mention honors for the team of the week after scoring his 20th and 21st goals of the season on Friday night.
Denver moved up two spots in Tuesday's coaches' poll to the third spot in the national rankings.
