The University of Denver women's basketball team continues the 2018-19 season on Friday evening when the Pioneers travel to Greeley to take on Northern Colorado.
Coach Jim Turgeon
's squad is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2011-12, after leading the Pioneers to a 16-14 record in his first season. Turgeon's Pioneers' early season success has been fueled by an offensive side of the ball that has put up 92 points in each of the first two games. Junior guard Lauren Loven
scored 21 and 25 points in Denver's two victories last weekend. Freshman Sydney Mech
eclipsed the double-figure mark in her first two collegiate games.
Northern Colorado is led by redshirt senior Savannah Smith, who averages 23.5 points per game while grabbing four boards per game.
Denver, who is in the midst of a four-game losing streak against Northern Colorado, fell 71-63 at home to the Bears last season.
