Denver Welcomes American on Monday at 1 P.M.

DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team will host the American Eagles on Monday afternoon at Hamilton Gymnasium at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers sit at 2-1 on the season after falling at in-state opponent Northern Colorado 74-66 on Friday evening. The Crimson and Gold fought for all 40 minutes in Greeley but the Bears used a late-game run to lock up the win. DU looks to bounce back against American who is off to a 2-0 start under sixth-year head coach Megan Gebbia. Coach Turgeon's squad is led by Lauren Loven (18.3 ppg), Claire Gritt (15.0 ppg) and Sydney Mech (14.3 ppg), who have combined for over half of Denver's points in the first three games.

The Eagles average 77.0 points per game while surrendering just 61.5 points per game and holding opponents under 35 percent from the floor. Junior guard Kaitlyn Marenyi stuffs the stat sheet for American, averaging 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. The Eagles handled George Mason and Tulsa in their first two games, winning by 15+ points in both contests.

American defeated the Pioneers 66-53 in Washington, D.C. last season in the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
