DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team continues its road trip on Tuesday evening when the team travels to take on New Mexico State.

The Pioneers improved to 7- 2 on Saturday afternoon after defeating the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 71-70. Second-year head coach Jim Turgeon's squad is off to the best start in school history and will look to pick up another victory over a RPI top-150 opponent. DU ranks inside the top 50 in the country in 11 different categories while Lauren Loven leads the team, averaging 18.3 points per game. Loven is joined by Madison Nelson, Claire Gritt and Courtney Smith who all average double-figure scoring.

New Mexico State is off to a 4-2 start and has not played since falling 83-58 to the University of New Mexico on December 1. Head coach Brooke Atkinson led the Aggies to an 18-13 record in her first season while capping it off with a WNIT appearance. Gia Pack and Brooke Salas lead New Mexico State averaging 17.5 and 16.0 points respectively. As a team the Aggies are holding opponents just 58.8 points per game and 36.3 percent from the floor. Offensively, New Mexico State averages 68.3 points per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and just 24.1 percent from downtown.
