SUMMIT LEAGUE RELEASE

ELMHURST, Ill. - University of Denver men's golf senior Chris Korte was recognized for his stellar play earlier this week at the Bandon Dunes Championship, being named Summit League Men's Golfer of the Week in a release by the league on Thursday.

Korte was on fire during the three-day tournament, setting a new season best with a fifth-place finish at the event with a score of 7-under.

"Huge congrats to Chris for being named league player of the week," head coach Erik Billinger said. "Chris continues to lead this team in many ways and his performance on the course this season has been really impressive. Watching him shoot back-to-back 66s this week at the Bandon Dunes Championship was awesome.

"His game continues to tighten up in all areas and his confidence and self-belief is a direct reflection of all the hard work he puts into his game. Congrats again to Chris."

The senior had it rolling in the event, posting back-to-back 66s in the second and third round. The second round was highlighted by eight birdies and the third round consisted of bogey-free golf from Korte.

This marks the first time this year and third overall that Korte has taken home the Golfer of the Week award from the Summit League.

The Crimson and Gold get back to it next week with a dual against Colorado State in Seattle, Wash. on Mar. 23.
