RESULTS
DENVER- Despite many close matches, the University of Denver men's tennis team fell to Wichita State, 4-3 on Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers drop to 7-7 on the season, as the squad earned three singles victories on the afternoon. It was a tight one for DU and the Shockers from the start, with four of the six singles matches lasting three sets.
Matt Summers scored the first win for the Crimson and Gold, as the freshman won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
The next Pioneer to win was Jorge Nunez, who carded a three set win over WSU's Eddie Stocia, 7-6 (7-6), 7-6 (7-5).
At No. 1 singles, Mattia Ros chalked up a comeback win, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 against Haru Inoue.
In doubles play, DU earned one win, as Nunez and Wyatt Lovera went 7-5 againt Stocia and Andrea Trapani.
The team returns to the count on April 1, when they face U.C. Santa Barbara in California.
