DENVER— The University of Denver women's volleyball team finished up the Denver Classic with a win against Sacramento State on Saturday night at Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers and Hornets played five competitive sets, scored 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-9.

The Crimson and Gold hold a 5-1 mark for this season, having gone 3-1 in matches that ended in five sets, part of 27 sets in six games.

Becca Latham Shines in Denver Classic:
Senior outside hitter
Becca Latham was the match leader in kills, tallying 17 throughout the game. In the 2018 season Latham has posted 77 kills, (2.85 kills per set), 13 digs, and 12 blocks. Adding in her stats from the match against CSUS, Latham overtook Katarina Marinkvoic (75) as the team leader in kills.

Pioneer Performers:
Junior
Katarina Marinkovic contributed to Denver's victory by earning 16 kills, one assist, two aces, one block, and eight digs. Sophomore
Ellie Anderson posted 36 assists, 12 digs, and two kills. Anderson leads the team with 161 assists in 27 sets.

Let's Talk Numbers:
In five sets Denver posted a total of 68 kills (.277 hitting percent), 66 assists, 82 digs, and six blocks against Sacramento State. The 68 tallied kills marks the most in a single game from the Pioneers this season.

DU out-killed CSUS by 68-64, and tallied 17 more digs. The Hornets will head home with a 3-4 record.

Tournament Final:
Denver went 3-0 in its home opening weekend. On Friday, Aug. 31 the Pioneers defeated UC Santa Barbara 3-2, and on Saturday Sept. 1 they beat McNeese State 3-0 and Sacramento State 3-2.

What's Next for DU:
Denver will host the Pioneer Showdown Sep. 7-8 and the Denver Invitational Sept. 14-15 to complete their non-conference action.
