DENVER— The University of Denver women's volleyball team will host South Dakota State for its first home Summit League match of the season on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. MT. 

On Friday, Sept. 21 the Pioneers defeated Oral Roberts 3-1 to begin league play for the 2018 season. South Dakota State faced Omaha to open conference play, losing 1-3.

Denver improved to 12-1 for the season, with a 1-0 mark in the Summit League. The Crimson and Gold are 6-0 in league openers since joining the Summit League in 2013. DU is averaging 13.8 kills per set, 12.84 assists, 13.46 digs, 2.23 blocks, and 1.96 service aces. 

Senior Becca Latham leads the team with 160 kills in 13 matches. Other significant student-athletes are Ellie Anderson who leads with 311 assists, Olivia Novotny who leads with 131 digs, and Emma Willis who leads with 53 blocks.  

Sophomore Lydia Bartalo tops the DU leaderboard with 30 service aces the season, entering the weekend ranked 6th in the NCAA. 

The Jackrabbits come to Denver with a 3-11 mark for the 2018 season, most recently having lost to Omaha 1-3 in their first league match on Friday, Sept. 21. SDSU is averaging 11.6 kills per set, 10.9 assists, two blocks, 1.5 aces, 13.9 digs and a .162 hitting percentage. Makenzie Hennen leads the team with 183 kills and is ranked No. 3 in the Summit League with 3.66 kills per set.
