Alpine Team Kicks off Montana State Invite

BOZEMAN, MT – The University of Denver ski team was in action on Wednesday afternoon at the Montana State Invite. Both the male and female alpine skiers for DU competed in the Giant Slalom race at Bridger Bowl.

The Pioneers had two podium finishers in the women's race as Amelia Smart and Katie Hensien finished second and third. After one day Denver sits in fifth place with 117 total points trailing first place Colorado, who has 158.5 total points.

MEN'S GIANT SLALOM: Jett Seymour was the lone finisher for the men's team as he placed 19th in the field. Nick Santaniello and Tristan Lane finished their first runs but were unable to complete the second. 

WOMEN'S GIANT SLALOM: All four female skiers finished both runs with Smart and Hensien registering podium finishes. Senior Andrea Komsic finished just behind the pair in fourth place only .09 seconds behind Hensien. Tuva Norbye finished only three spots behind Komsic in seventh place, winning the second run of the day. 

Next up: The Alpine squad will be in action again tomorrow in the NCAA Giant Slalom Qualifier while the Nordic team will not begin competition until Friday.

RIDE THE SKI TRAIN: Join the defending National Champion Denver Ski Team for a day on the mountain on January 26th. The train leaves Union Station at 6:45 am and will arrive at Winter Park Resort at 9 am where the National Champion DU Ski Team will be your expert guides on the mountain offering choices of freeskiing, snowcat tours or snowshoeing. The train will return to Union Station at 6:40 pm on the evening of the 26th.
