The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to the Wichita State Shockers in their season-opener on Saturday at the Genesis Health Club in Wichita, Kan.
Wichita State took the doubles point with 6-3 victories at No. 1 and No. 2, then captured four singles wins to top the Pioneers.
Denver's lone singles victories came at No. 4, where sophomore transfer
James Davis earned a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win against Stefan Latinovic, and No. 6, where senior
Ignatius Castelino defeated Orel Ovil, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Sophomore

Daniel Krulig each took their opponents the distance, but both fell in the decisive set, 6-2.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 23 against Northern Colorado in their inaugural match at the Denver Tennis Park. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m
