Box Score DENVER - The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team defeated the Northern Colorado Bears 7-0 in its opening match at the Denver Tennis Park on Wednesday.
"It was a great team effort."
Ricardo Rubio said. "We had a great crowd and it was awesome to see everybody come out and support our team."
Denver took the doubles point with
James Davis and
Matt Summers defeating Kyle Pease and Tommy Smalley 6-2 at No. 1 and
Daniel Krulig and
Eric Morris defeating Kyle Wade and Michael Kritzinger 6-1 at No. 3. Â
Mattia Ros recorded the first singles victory of the day, dispatching Pease 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. Summers followed suit with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Adolfo Arroyo at No. 3, then
Ignatius Castelino sealed the match victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Smalley at No. 5.
Following the match clinch, Krulig,
James Davis and Pedro Fernandez del Valle earned wins at No. 2, 4 and 6.
