DENVER – University of Denver women's skier
Amelia Smart has been named the RMISA Women's Alpine Skier of the Week for her efforts at the Montana State Invite. Smart, who was named Women's Alpine Skier of the Year last season also won the award back on February 27, 2018 for her performance at the RMISA Championships. She joins fellow Alpine teammate
Tuva Norbye who won the award last week after her success at the CU Invite.Â
The reigning national champion in both alpine events had a strong showing in the Slalom and Giant Slalom races in Bozeman, Montana, including her first podium finish of the year in a team race.
Smart placed second in the Giant Slalom on Wednesday behind the third fastest first run of the day. The sophomore picked up 37 team points for her podium effort.
On Friday, she followed up with the fifth fastest run in the Slalom to gain an additional 29 points for DU. Through four RMISA team races, Smart has not finished outside the top-10.
