After sweeping Oregon 4-0 on Saturday, the Denver Pioneers women's tennis team fell to No. 7 Pepperdine 4-0 on the second day of the ITA Kick Off in Malibu, Calif.
Denver took games from ranked opponents in doubles play, but ultimately dropped the team point. The tandem of

Camille Verden-Anderson fell to No. 1 Ashley Lahey/Evgeniya Levashova 6-2, while
Anna Riedmiller/
Tatum Burger drew close to No. 43 Anastasia Iamachkine/Jessica Failla in a 6-4 loss.
Despite dropping all three singles matches, the Pioneers had a good showing against their opponents. No. 89 Mok was down 7-5, 4-5 to No. 106 Lahey, Riedmiller was trailing 6-4, 4-2 to No. 28 Falla at the time the match was clinched and No. 85 Arisha Ladahni battled No. 17 Levashova before falling 6-4, 6-3.
The Pioneers will make their debut at the Denver Tennis Park on Friday, Feb. 1 against New Mexico. First serve is set for 1 p.m. MT.
