ST. LOUIS – The University of Denver men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result at [RV/RV] Saint Louis on Tuesday night at Hermann Stadium.
"A person is defined by moments of challenge and adversity," head coach Jamie Franks said. "My guys continue to grow and get better, and I know that this is a tough moment for them. I promised them that if they can dig deep, learn from their mistakes and learn who they are as people and what value they bring to the organization that this is the biggest growing moment for our group.
"I know the results will come, I believe in this group. I'm excited for our next match at Oral Roberts. We played a lot of guys tonight knowing that our focus is going to Oral and getting three points on Saturday."
Redshirt-sophomore
Kobe Gray (Parker, Colo.) made his first career appearance in goal on Tuesday night in Saint Louis, making two saves on his debut.
Junior
Preston Judd (Henderson, Nev.) had the two best chances of the opening 45 minutes, sending the first one over the bar before having his second opportunity from 25 yards out stopped by Saint Louis goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.
Denver earned a couple chances in the early stages of the second half, but it was Saint Louis who found the breakthrough in the 58
th minute. John Klein got his second goal of the season for the Billikens, dipping a shot over the outstretched arms of Gray and under the crossbar for the opener.
Judd had the best opportunity for an equalizer with just over 20 seconds to go, weaving through a couple of defenders before toe-poking a shot from the top of the box wide of the post.
