DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer team got a first half rebound off a penalty from
Jacob Stensson (Stockholm, Sweden), a second-half spot kick from
Josh Drack (Chandler, Ariz.) and allowed just three shots on goal in a 2-0 victory over Summit League foe Omaha on Saturday night at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
Saturday's Pioneers and Mavericks encounter featured 38 fouls and nine yellow cards.
Denver outshot Omaha 12-7, putting nine of its 12 efforts on target.
In the 23
rd minute, junior
Destan Norman (Fort Collins, Colo.) was brought down in the area, forcing referee Sergio Gonzalez to point to the spot. Stensson's initial penalty was saved, but the Denver captain calmly buried the rebound into the open net to put the Pioneers ahead.
Denver's second half penalty came in the 69
th minute when an Omaha player handled the ball in the area. Drack stepped up and buried fourth goal of the 2019 campaign to double the Denver lead.

The Pioneers will return to the road on Tuesday to battle Duke. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET/5 p.m. MT.
