Won Locks in Top-15 Finish with Career-best 68 on Wednesday

Pioneers move up four spots, tie for ninth
'EWA BEACH, Hawaii – The University of Denver men's golf team closed out the fall season strong on Wednesday at the Hoakalei C.C. Invitational. The Pioneers fired a team score of 283 (5-under) in the final round, moving up four spots to tie for ninth place.
Par for the 7,248-yard course was 72 at the Hoakalei Country Club.
DU's stellar day was led by junior Jun Ho Won, who fired a career-best 68 (4-under), tying for 11th. Ho Won's big day was part of an all-round good day for the Crimson and Gold, who also got solid performances from Cal McCoy (2-under) and Carson Griggs (1-under).
The trio combined to post 7-under for the team on the afternoon.
"The guys battled today and I'm so proud of them," head coach Erik Billinger said. "Our putting was hurting us the entire tournament and we kept our attitudes good and they all gave a great effort for the final round of the fall season. Hats off to Jun for finishing top 15 as he was 5-under for the entire week.
"Also, as a team we got 10 important head-to-head victories. This concludes a great fall with one team victory and three individual victories. We are going to work on our scoring areas and be even better in the spring."
No. 32 East Tennessee State found separation on Wednesday to take home the team title, winning by nine strokes at 29-under.
Griggs (31st, even par) McCoy (40th, 1-over) each moved up on the final day of play.
Esteban Missura wrapped up his fall tying for 67th at 6-over.
Jackson Solem and Eric Hagen, both competing as individuals, finished tied for 81st and 83rd respectively.
Denver returns to action in the spring.
