DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team swept Colorado 7-0 on Sunday evening at the Denver Tennis Park. With the win the Pioneers improve to 5-1.
DU opened the evening by winning the doubles competition to secure the team point. The Pios and Buffs split the opening matches but a win in the final match allowed Denver to get off to a good start.
Bianca Mok/Camille Verden-Anderson defeated Monica Malinen/Tallulah Farrow 6-1 in the No. 1 position and
Tatum Burger/Anna Riedmiller downed Sara Nayar/Megan Foster 6-2 in the No. 2 position to clinch the point.
Mok kicked off the scoring in singles with a win by-forfeit in the No. 1 position. She led 4-0 prior to her opponent withdrawing due to injury. Verden-Anderson made it two straight for the Pioneers with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ky Ecton in the No. 6 position.
Arisha Ladhani secured the victory for Denver with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sara Nayar in the No. 2 position.
With the match in hand Riedmiller, Burger and
Toni Nelson all went on to win their matches, completing the sweep.
Next up: The Pioneers return to action on Friday, February 15
th when they host Wisconsin at 5:30 pm MT.
