The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team (5-2, 1-0) opened Summit League play with a 5-2 win against the Valparaiso Crusaders on Sunday at the Denver Tennis Park.
Denver took the doubles point with 
Daniel Krulig/
Eric Morris defeating Daniel Langston/Gabriel Carvajal 6-1 at No. 3 and 
James Davis/
Matt Summers defeating Brandon Ancona/Kweisi Kenyatte 6-1 at No. 1.
The success continued on the singles courts with a slew of tightly contested matches. The Pioneers took the first three singles victories to seal the match with 
James Davis beating Brian Pecyna 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, 
Mattia Ros topping Chad Kissell 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at No. 1 and 
Daniel Krulig defeating Gabriel Carvajal 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 6. 
Ignatius Castelino helped the Pioneers to their fifth team point with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory against Daniel Langston at No. 5.
The Pioneers are set to return the court on Feb. 23 at BYU.
